Belarusian nuclear power plant hosts nuclear safety exercise
A nuclear safety exercise took place at premises of the Belarusian nuclear power plant, the press service of the Belarusian Emergencies Ministry told BelTA.

Within the framework of a tactical special exercise meant to ensure nuclear and radiation safety of the population in Ostrovets District a team charged with containing a reactor equipment emergency demonstrated its practical work. A radiation detection team also practiced some actions and demonstrated capabilities of a mobile radiological lab.

Participants of the exercise, which took place at premises of the Belarusian nuclear power plant, practiced the sequence of actions in the course of extinguishing fire at a vertical steel tank, which contained diesel fuel, in terrain that has been polluted with radiation. Modern technical solutions of emergency response units were used in the course of the exercise.

The tactical special exercise on nuclear and radiation safety of the population took place as part of the Collective Security Treaty Organization's joint special exercise for rescue units Skala 2023 [Rock]. The Skala 2023 exercise is part of the CSTO exercise Boyevoye Bratstvo 2023 [Combat Brotherhood]. The Combat Brotherhood 2023 exercise is taking place in Belarus on 1-6 September. Various units of the CSTO collective forces will be trained in the course of the exercise. The exercises are taking place in military training areas and various locations in Brest Oblast, Grodno Oblast, and Minsk Oblast.
