If necessary, police and soldiers of the Interior Troops will use lethal weapons against protesters, said First Deputy Interior Minister Henadz Kazakevich in a video message.

He said that the protests are getting smaller and mainly take place in Minsk. At the same time, the protests have become "organized and very radical," Kazakevich said.

"In this regard, police officers and soldiers of the Interior Troops will not leave the streets and, if necessary, will use non-lethal and lethal weapons," the first deputy minister threatened.

Since the protests began on August 9, security forces have used flash grenades, pepper sprays, rubber bullets to disperse the crowds.
