PM Andrei Kabyakou has explained why Belarus lacks projects to make use of foreign lines of credit. Alyaksandr Lukashenka was indignant at it during his recent State of the Nation Address. He primarily mentioned Chinese credits.
The money will need to be returned later. That is why Belarus is staking on commercial projects that can pay their way, the PM announced on Belarus 1.
“We could spend these credits on social infrastructure projects that could substitute out budget expenses,” BELTA quotes Kabyakou. “But how would we return the money? That is why we are staking on commercial projects that can pay their way. We do not have enough of such projects and suggestions at the moment.”
