Wife visits Ales Byalyatski

Political prisoner's wife Natallya Pinchuk visited penal colony No. 2 in Babruisk for a short-term meeting on December 20.

Natallya says the meeting lasted for two hours. The couple discussed a variety of issues, including family and friends.

Natallya says Ales looks good and has no health complaints, Viasna human rights centre reports.

We remind that human rights activist Ales Byalyatski was sentenced to 4.5 years in a medium security penal colony and confiscation of property in November 2011. He was accused of failure to pay taxes on his foreign bank accounts. The human rights defender spent the money on his accounts on human rights activities. The EU, the US and human rights groups consider him a political prisoner and demand to release him immediately.
