It is up to Western nations to recognize the Belarus president election as valid or not. Chairwoman of the Central Election Commission (CEC) of Belarus Lidia Yermoshina made the statement on 10 September when asked about the election's recognition by Western countries and the OSCE, BelTA has learned.
The head of the Belarusian election organization agency noted: “We always work to get elections recognized as valid but the decision primarily lies with the Western nations and the OSCE.”
Apart from that, the official noted that 195 international observers have been accredited so far. Of them 105 observers represent the CIS mission while the rest represent the OSCE and PACE missions. The PACE mission has submitted registration papers for nine people.
Asked about the work of the international observers, Lidia Yermoshina noted: “They work independently from us.”
