CEC accredits 250 international observers

The central election commission had accredited 250 international observers for Belarus’ House of Representatives elections as of August 31.

Out of them, 191 were members of the observation mission of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) and 50 were members of the observation mission of the OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (ODIHR).

Also accredited were observers representing the election authorities of other countries, including three representatives of Russia’s central election commission, two representatives of Armenia’s central election commission and one representative of the central election commission of Moldova. In addition, international observer status was granted to three independent observers.

A total of 2,147 domestic observers had been registered as of August 27. Of them, 1,740 had been accredited with precinct election commissions, 402 with district election commissions and five with the central election commission.
