In 2013, Belarus has to pay creditors $19.5 billion


In Belarus, the upcoming payments on foreign debt (Guidotti rule) at the expense of the international reserves (gold reserves of Belarus National Bank) on April 1, 2012 was 41.5%, according to the balance of payments, AFN informs.

According to Guidotti rule, the international reserve assets are required to cover payments on the gross external debt in the coming 12 months.

We remind, the international reserves on 1 April totaled 8.085 billion dollars. Thus, Belarus will have to repay - during one year - from 1 April 2012 to April 1, 2013 - foreign creditors 19.482 billion. Part of this debt was paid off in the 2nd quarter of 2012 (statistical data will be published later).

As it was reported, in the first quarter of 2012 2.1 billion dollars was spent to service the gross external debt of Belarus, which on April 1 was 33.7 billion. 1.8 billion of 2.1 - to pay off the principal debt, 0.3 billion dollars - to pay interest.
