Russian President Dmitry Medvedev said that his talks with Alyaksandr Lukashenka in Moscow on Thursday had yielded an agreement on Russian crude oil supplies to Belarus.
"Today we discussed a range of possible solutions and made in fact a key decision to respond positively to various appeals concerning further cooperation in the oil sphere," Russia's RIA Novosti news agency quoted Mr. Medvedev as saying.
"Our colleagues, vice premiers will report to us on the solutions that have been prepared," he said. Mr. Medvedev noted that the oil supply agreement resulting from the talks "will at least not create difficulties for our Belarusian partners and at the same time make our cooperation in the sphere more modern."
Earlier this month, Andrey Kabyakow, Belarus' deputy prime minister, expressed certainty that Belarus would manage to negotiate a favorable oil supply deal with Russia for 2010.
