Minsk Expects $2.5 Billion from Gazprom within 15 Days

The Russian gas holding company Gazprom should remit $2.5 billion to Belarus for the remaining Beltransgaz stake within 15 days. It is stipulated in the contract, under which the money must be transferred within 15 days from the date of signing the contract, reported in the State Property Committee of Belarus.

Gazprom signed a contract with the State Property Committee of Belarus on Beltransgaz stake purchase. As a part of the deal, Gazprom will become a sole owner of Belarus' gas pipeline network operator, acquiring a 50 percent stake it had not yet owned for $2.5 billion. The document was signed on November 25 in Moscow.

In addition, the Russian gas holding and Beltransgaz signed a contract on gas supply to Belarus as well as its transit through the Belarusian territory for 2012-2014.

Belarus and Russia also signed an intergovernmental agreement to lend Belarus for the construction of the first Belarusian nuclear power plant.
