Belarus seeks to expand trade, economic cooperation with Azerbaijan

Belarus is interested in expanding trade and economic cooperation with Azerbaijan, Belarusian Deputy Prime Minister Igor Petrishenko said as he met with Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Azerbaijan to Belarus Ulvi Bakhshaliyev, BelTA has learned.

“Despite new geopolitical challenges, many partners may envy the dynamics of our interaction. Contacts continue at high and highest levels, including within international organizations and integration formats. This year the Belarusian prime minister paid a visit to Azerbaijan. The difficult global political situation has not had a negative impact on our relations. We have always supported each other in difficult times, and we keep this tradition,” said Igor Petrishenko.

The bilateral trade keep increasing. “Belarus has significantly increased supplies of transformers and cable products, timber and wood boards, as well as foodstuffs to Azerbaijan. A reliable channel for the purchase of Azerbaijani fruits and vegetables has been established to replace imports from unfriendly countries. Belarus is interested in further expansion and diversification of trade and economic cooperation. We have all the necessary resources to do so,” said Igor Petrishenko.

Belarus presented its national expositions at major international exhibitions in Baku: Caspian Agro agricultural exhibition and InterFood Azerbaijan food industry exhibition, Caspian Oil and Gas exhibition, ADEX defense exhibition. Belarus is also set to take part in the International Exhibition of Medical Innovations slated for 3-5 November 2022. “We would like to see national Azerbaijani expositions at major exhibitions in Belarus as well. For example, we would like to see Azerbaijani producers of fresh fruit and vegetable products among the participants in the international exhibition Prodexpo, the annual exhibition Belagro, which is held in Belarus in early June,” Igor Petrishenko added.
