Scheme For Illegal Entry Of Foreigners From Russia To Belarus Uncovered

A scheme for illegal entry of foreigners into Belarus was uncovered by the border committee. According to the investigation, the employees of the Belarusian railway were involved in a scam.
The foreigners who took advantage of the illegal services were reportedly detained. They now face prison terms of up to seven years.
According to the border committee, a group of persons organized the illegal entry of foreigners from Russia to Belarus using passenger railway transport.
“A group of people has been established, it also included the employees of the Belarusian Railway Minsk Branch,” the border committee informs.
A criminal case under part 2 of Art. 371−1 of the Criminal Code (Organization of illegal migration, committed by a group of persons with prior agreement) was initiated.
Recall that a week ago a Danish tourist was detained by border guards for walking from Poland to Belarus on railway tracks. According to the tourist, he was walking to Minsk for tourism.
Don’t forget that the Belarus-Russia border is tricky for a foreigner. It is present on the map, but in life, it isn’t a conventional state border.
That’s why it’s important to remember that the only way for a third-country person to travel between Belarus and Russia directly is by air and with two visas.
Belarus and Russia are still resolving the international border checkpoints issue. Besides, mutual visa recognition is pending.
When signed, the document is expected to resolve the need for two visas and add the possibility to use other transport besides air. Until this happens, we may suggest traveling around Belarus via 30 visa-free days regime.
Another way is to get a ticket to the 2nd European Games in Minsk allowing to travel between Belarus and Russia visa-free from 10 June to 10 July 2019. Mind that there are still nuances to know.
