Belarus to reduce energy import by almost 11% in 2016

Belarus will reduce the import of energy by almost 11% in 2016. The import from Russia will total 2.5 billion kwh, the press service of the Ministry of Energy reports. It totaled 2.8 billion kwh last year.

Belarus will be importing energy ‘in order to provide energy security, diversify the fuel and energy balance and conduct repairs of energy equipments on beneficial terms’ this year.

The strategy of the Ministry of Energy is taking ‘new high-performance energy facilities’ into account. It is aimed at decreasing the import of energy from abroad. The index totaled 7.9 billion kwh in 2012, 6.7 kwh in 2013 and 3.8 billion kwh in 2014.
