The state leader suddenly mentioned the necessity of increasing the pension age at the meeting dedicated to the development of the country.
This issue will be solved taking the people’s opinion into account, Lukashenka said:
"It needs to be increased but people do not want it. That is why our pensions are small. We have this pension fund and nothing more. We need to persuade people to agree to it. We will ask for their support. If they agree to it, there will be changes. Otherwise, nothing will be changed.”
He said that the pension age had to be increased ‘even during the pre-election campaign’, Lukashenka reminded.
Euroradio has found this moment of the pre-election campaign. The idea of increasing the pension age ‘is not even going to be considered’, Lukashenka announced at the meeting with the employees of Baranavichy Cotton Association:
"We have not even discussed this issue. But I can tell you that the pension age had to be increased long ago.”
