They also lost $200 million due to the sharp devaluation of the Russian ruble.

Belarus received about $100 million less due to the restrictive measures that Russia imposed against Belarusian foodstuffs. This was stated by the Minister of Agriculture and Food Leanid Zayats.

According to the Minister, from August to December, our country had a shortfall in profits due to the restrictions on imports into Russia imposed on the Belarusian meat processing plants. In addition, Belarusians suffered huge losses due to the sharp devaluation of the Russian ruble - more than $200 million, Interfax.by reports.

The Ministry of Agriculture expects that the restrictions will be removed in the near future. At the end of last week, the Russian experts conducted inspections of Belarusian meat processing plants. This inspection revealed no problems, the minister Leanid Zayats said.

At the beginning of October 2014, Russia temporarily suspended delivery of products from more than 20 Belarusian meat processing plants. Products of the nine of them allegedly contained the gene of African swine fever. Harmful substances were found in production of 17 plants - export restrictions for them were removed at the end of 2014. Since January 24, deliveries from the 9 enterprises, where the ASF gene was found, were partially resumed, BelTA reports.
