Two plainclothes police officers had to open fire to break up a fight in Mahilyow on the night between November 1 and 2.
The policemen were patrolling a garage complex when they spotted a mass brawl, said the interior ministry's press office.
After the officers told the crowd to stop the fight, one of them was attacked by two aggressive young men who punched him and hit him with a stick.
The policemen made nine warning shots before firing three shots at the attackers.
The attacked policeman was hospitalized with a head injury. The two attackers, aged 27 and 28, were taken to the hospital with gun wounds. Their condition was described as non-life-threatening. They are expected to be charged with using force against a police officer under the Criminal Code's Article 364.
