Yermoshina promised TV debates during the parliamentary elections

Debates could become an innovation in the parliamentary elections to be held this fall, Chairman of the Central Commission for Elections and National Referendums of Belarus Lidia Yermoshina told on TV channel "Belarus-1".

"Not only candidates for presidency, but also general candidates now have the opportunity to debate on television and radio, of course, if candidates don't afraid to speak on the air", the head of the CEC said. She also noted that "in the upcoming elections there will be substantial transparency in vote counting". The nomination of candidates was also simplified, especially from political parties.

Lydia Yermoshina reminded, Belarus law on elections has been changed in 2010, and the elections of deputies for local councils and presidential elections were held according to it. Parliamentary elections will be held in accordance with the modified regulations for the first time.
