CIS states work on sustainable forestry solutions
The CIS Executive Committee Office in Moscow played host to a meeting of the expert group on drafting the main directions of cooperation of the CIS member states in forest industry for the period of up to 2035, BelTA learned from the Economic Cooperation Department of the CIS Executive Committee.

The online event featured representatives of Belarus, Armenia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan, and the CIS Executive Committee. The experts discussed and approved the draft document. After getting approved in the governments, the draft main directions of the CIS cooperation in forest industry for the period of up to 2035 will be submitted to the CIS supreme bodies.

The main objective of cooperation of the CIS countries within the framework of the document under discussion is to join efforts to create conditions for sustainable, consistent and dynamic development of the forest sector in the CIS, to ensure economic security and to meet the needs of citizens for quality products and useful properties of forests. Areas of cooperation cover afforestation, protection and restoration of forest resources, timber processing, development of markets for forest paper products, introduction of resource-saving and environmentally safe technologies.
