Belarus and Russia have established cooperation in nuclear medicine, Director General of Rosatom Health Technologies Igor Obrubov told the media on the sidelines of the Atomexpo International Forum in Sochi on 26 March, BelTA has learned.
Igor Obrubov praised the joint initiatives with Belarus. “We have been working with our Belarusian colleagues for quite a long time, especially in the development of nuclear medicine technologies. We actively interact at the level of the medical community, share our innovations with each other. First of all, this pertains to the use of radiopharmaceuticals. I can say that today we are so synchronized that we simultaneously learn about all our innovative achievements both from the Russian Federation and Belarus. We boast very close ties, we communicate at the level of ministries and departments, as well as at the level of doctors and medical institutions. This gives us confidence that the new technologies, which are available in our countries today, will reach patients as quickly as possible,” he said.
Interaction is also close with regard to “heavy” medical equipment that Rosatom is developing today. “Here, we are building an interesting cooperation. We are making new medical devices in close cooperation with Belarusian manufacturers. For example, we produce Brachium devices, and take components for them in Belarus. We are bringing a hemodialysis machine to the stage of clinical trials and registration, and again take components and consumables from Belarus. We have close ties at the level of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus and enterprises,” the director general said.
The Atomexpo International Forum is the largest exhibition and business platform to discuss the current state of the nuclear industry and set further development trends. The forum is attended by heads of key companies of the international nuclear industry, government agencies, international and public organizations, and leading experts. A delegation from Belarus is taking part in the event.
