Belarus’ Khadasevich clinches bronze at 2024 European Weighting Championships

Belarusian athletes are taking part as neutrals in the 2024 European Weightlifting Championships in Sofia, the capital of Bulgaria, BelTA has learned.
Sunday's competition program wrapped up with the men's 96kg weight category. Pavel Khodasevich of Belarus lifted 165kg in the first attempt, but then failed to lift 168kg twice. The athlete’s result in the first attempt was enough to secure bronze.
The Belarusian started with 195kg in the clean and jerk which were followed by successful attempts with 200kg and 206kg. Pavel Khadasevich's total sum of 360kg brought him bronze. Pavel Khadasevich's biggest achievement at international competitions was silver at the 2018 World Weightlifting Championships. Last year Pavel Khadasevich won gold at the 2nd CIS Games.
Yulian Kurlovich of Belarus won bronze in the clean and jerk lifting 196kg. The Belarusian finished fourth with the total of 353kg. Gold went to Armenia’s Hakob Mkrtchyan (375kg), silver – to Armenia’s Davit Hovhannisyan (374kg).
Belarus has so far secured silver and bronze as well as six medals in separate routines at the competitions in Bulgaria.
The 2024 European Weightlifting Championships have gathered over 350 athletes from 42 countries. The tournament is a qualifying event ahead of the 2024 Paris Olympics.
