Universities of Belarus, China outline new cooperation areas

The Belarusian State University (BSU) and China's leading universities have identified new vectors and forms of cooperation, BelTA learned from the university's press service.

A delegation of the Belarusian university headed by Rector Andrei Korol is on a visit to China. The visit is aimed to strengthen, intensify and expand the partnership. Today China is one of the strategic partners for BSU. The Belarusian university cooperates with more than 50 Chinese universities and trains more than 3,000 Chinese citizens.

Numerous meetings with Chinese counterparts and exchange of cooperation proposals have given a new impetus to mutually beneficial projects.

The visit to Beijing Foreign Studies University, one of China's leading universities in linguistic training, has brought about good results. As a follow-up to the agreements on cooperation signed in 2017, the parties concluded an agreement on the exchange of students. The document aims to develop academic mobility of students and undergraduates studying Chinese, Belarusian and Russian languages. The parties also considered cooperation in the joint development of innovative pedagogical methods.

China University of Political Science and Law has become a new partner for BSU. The official relations between the universities have been enforced by the memorandum of understanding. The document will let the universities develop comprehensive cooperation in jurisprudence. This will be an exchange of students, joint educational programs, implementation of joint research and educational projects, exchange of information, educational materials and scientific reports, organization of conferences, seminars, workshops, courses, and work on joint publications.

The visit was wrapped up with a visit to the Belarusian State University Information and Education Center in China on 24 March. Its activities help strengthen educational and cultural ties between Belarusian and Chinese higher education institutions and assist in training Chinese citizens to enter BSU and other Belarusian higher education institutions. BSU Rector Andrei Korol met with the leadership of the center, was updated on the center's performance in 2022 and discussed the main activities for the current period.
