There are outrageous facts of animal abuse and we must react to such things, Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko said as he met with Yuri Tertel, head of the State Inspectorate for Protection of Flora and Fauna under the President of the Republic of Belarus, to receive his report on 25 July, BelTA has learned.
The head of state noted that often it is young people who are cruel to animals. "This is a problem. Recently, we have seen cases of animal cruelty (there have always been plenty of brazen young people, and there are some now too). Especially among young people. They even upload such videos to the internet," the Belarusian leader stated.
He instructed to immediately make proposals if any additional decisions should be made in this regard, although this area is not exactly a scope of reference of the State Inspectorate. "Will you, please, take such things under control, too. They are animals after all, too. Animals are out faithful and good companions who will never betray. But some individuals, some young people treat animals badly. This is unacceptable. Until we adopt the law (it is being developed now), I ask you to think over how the inspectorate can respond to such things," Aleksandr Lukashenko said.
The president noted that there is no need to even look for the perpetrators of such actions, as they upload videos to social networks. "Most of people, especially the Belarusians, are compassionate people. They treat animals well. And they will immediately report such negative cases," the head of state said.
"We must respond to such cases. Until we work out the law, will you, please, take control of this as much as you can. There are some egregious facts," Aleksandr Lukashenko noted.
