The Polatsk police department has received a complaint with a request to start a criminal case against Belarusian President Alyaksandr Lukashenka. The complaint was filed by Alyaksandr Matveyeu whose mother, found to have coronavirus, died in the Vitsebsk regional clinical hospital on April 2. This was first reported by the Telegram channel Infektsionka. Several days later, this information was confirmed by Belsat TV: the police received a complaint from the man and registered it under number 547039. It says the following:

"I demand that a criminal case be opened against Alyaksandr Ryhoravich Lukashenka born on 30.08.1954 in the village of Kopys, Republic of Belarus, who, while being President of the Republic of Belarus, failed to take necessary measures to protect the population from the spread of a very dangerous virus. As a result, Lidziya Dzmitryyeuna Matveyeva died on 02.04.2020 in the regional clinical hospital of Vitsebsk."

Alyaksandr currently lives in France and could not come to his mother during the coronavirus pandemic. Lidziya Matveyeva, 68, from Polatsk, stayed in the neurology department of the Vitsebsk regional clinic for several weeks. According to her son, the diagnosis was changed three times. And the coronavirus was only reported in the post-mortem certificate.

"The scary thing is that no information is given to people, the names of the dead are not officially published, everything is hidden. People should know what's going on in our country. Quarantine is necessary, it's necessary to protect doctors," Alyaksandr Matveyeu wrote.

As of April 7, 13 people with the coronavirus infection have died in Belarus. The total number of detected COVID19 infections is 861.
