A monument titled The Viciebsk Giant to the world's tallest man was mounted near the Town Hall in Viciebsk. The bronze sculpture authored by Ivan Kazak is 3 m and 12 cm high. The prototype is Fyodor Makhnov (1878 - 1912), a Belarusian 'Gilliver' born in the Viciebsk region, who had the height of 285 sm. Makhnov performed in a circus traveling around the world.
