Policemen detained filmmaker and Kurapaty defender Alyaksei Turovich in Minsk on June 12, one of the leaders of the Belarusian Christin Democracy (BCD) organizing committee Pavel Sevyarynets told Radio Liberty.

Turovich was detained after a protest action in defence of Kurapaty in Karbyshau Street in Minsk. The man was dragged into a police car and taken to a police station. The police did not explain the reason for his detention.

Alyaksei Turovich is the author of the film Yellow Sand (made after Vasil Bykau’s work). The film is dedicated to the mass shooting in Kurapaty. Turovich is actively participating in the protests against the restaurant “Poedem, Poedim” built with violations at the Kurapaty memorial protected area.
