Belarus Drops From 67th Place To 73rd In World Happiness Report 2018

Year after year the Belarusians become more unhappy, according to the latest
World Happiness Report 2018
.
This year our country dropped from the 67th to the 73rd place.
The level of happiness in Belarus is much lower than it is in the neighboring countries, except Ukraine.
For the past four years the country keeps falling in the global ranking – from 59th place to 61st, then 67th and 73rd place.
Among our neighbours, the Poles are the most positive ones (42nd), then go Lithuanians (50th), Latvians (53rd) and Russians (59th).
Ukraine remains in the company of African countries at the 138th position, this year it fell in the ranking by six points.
Lucky and losers
Finland has become the happiest country in the world, both with the happiest population in general and immigrants.
However, the top ten are held by the same countries as in the last two years, although with some swapping of places.
Four different countries – Denmark, Switzerland, Norway and now Finland – have held top spot in the four most recent reports.
The most unhappy people live in Southern Sudan, the Central African Republic and Burundi.
The main “loser” of the ranking is Venezuela, where the level of happiness dropped the most for the last years.
Landmark survey
The World Happiness Report 2018, ranks 156 countries by their happiness levels.
The polled were asked about their satisfaction with income, healthy life expectancy, social support, freedom, trust and generosity.
It also ranked 117 countries by the happiness of their immigrants. Its results can be found here.
The overall rankings are based on the pooled results from Gallup World Poll surveys from 2015-2017.
It is is published under the aegis of the United Nations and timed to the World Day of Happiness, which is celebrated on March 20.
