Belarus is planning or revive the territories contaminated after the Chernobyl disaster, Minister for Foreign Affairs Uladzimir Makei claimed at the conference Thirty years after Chernobyl. From an Emergency to a Revival and Sustainable Socio-Economic Development of Affected Territories in Minsk.
“You can cry and complain or you can try to change the situation,” BelaPAN quotes Makei. “You can organize humanitarian aid for the victims and you can also try to revive the land, to make it usable for agriculture. The development of these areas is our main task.”
"Representatives of ecological organizations criticize the idea sometimes.
