Released Servolux CEO Yauhen Baskin has been put under house arrest, KGB spokesperson Dzmitry Pabyarezhyn told BelaPAN.
The decision was made because of ‘recently discovered details’, he explained.
Baskin has probably compensated for the damage done to the state, unofficial sources suggest.
Rumours about the detention of several prominent Belarusian businessmen and other employees of Servolux appeared on March 14. KGB chief Valery Vakulchyk confirmed the detentions on the next day. 15 employees of the group of companies Servolux were detained on March 15, he claimed. They are suspected of major tax evasion. The damage done to the state reached Br370 billion, investigators said. Baskin and his chief financial executive were detained at the Minsk Airport when trying to flee Belarus, Vakulchyk said.
