In pictures: flooded Hrodna

The rain has been pouring over the regional center since July 12.

Many roads have been demolished, some of them are blocked for the traffic movement.

The heavy rain started last night. First, pavements and automobile roads collapsed which caused great traffic jams. The road in the 17th September Street in the area of Haradnichanka river suffered the most. A woman had hardly escaped falling into the water in the car this night.

The roads in the sleeping districts Dzevyatouka, Vishnyavets and the city center have also been flooded. Bridges and parks have got under the water. Even the modern stormwater drainage failed. The water level reaches the automobile glass.

Many streets now have broken hatches and fallen trees. Landslides have started at many hills in the city center (Gagarin Street area). The roofs of the private and multi-storeyed buildings have collapsed. The residents hardly manage to pump out the water while the communal services come to rescue the people who suffered from the flood.
