Russian soldiers have seized the Ukrainian corvette Khmelnitsky.
60 armed Russian soldiers and a group of the so-called Crimean ‘self-defence’ performed the attack, UNIAN reports.
"The people who assaulted the ship broke down the conning bridge and diesel-generator set #2 that supplied the ship with electricity, they also put the main engines out of the operation and blocked the crew on the conning bridge,” executive officer of Khmelnitsky Mykola Burdov said.
To prevent the Russians from sinking the ship, the commander ordered to leave the vessel urgently. The Russians towed the ship off to Kirunaya Bay.
Russians seized the corvette Ternopol on Thursday.
