Zmitser Dashkevich has been sentenced to three days of arrest, journalist Barys Haretski writes on his Facebook.
Policemen detained Zmitser Dashkevich, a leader of youth organisation Young Front, and took him to Tsentralny District Directorate of Interior, his wife Nasta says. According to the most recent information, he is to appear before court for 'disobedience of police officers' orders'.
As part of their anti-communist campaign, a group of Young Front activists were gathering signatures for renaming Lenin Street – earlier it was called Frantsiskanskaya. During the meeting on the occasion of Dziady (All Souls’ Day) they collected more than 100 signatures, the organisation's web site reports. The campaign will go on in Minsk and other cities until November, 7. On yet another anniversary of the October revolutionary overthrow the signature sheets will be handed over to the Council of Ministers and city councils.
