Damascus wants to enter the Customs Union of Russia, Kazakhstan and Belarus.
The Minister of Economy and Foreign Trade Mohammad Zafer Mhabbak and the Belarusian ambassador in Damascus Aleg Ermalovich discussed the bilateral relations, in particular, in the sphere of economy and trade, and the ways of their reinforcement, Regnum reports.
As the Syrian state agency SANA reports, the sides agreed on the continuation of the contacts with the aim to fulfill and activate the agreements, signed by the two countries.
The Syrian minister expressed a hope that Minsk would support Syria’s joining the Customs Union.
In his turn, the Belarusian ambassador noted the progress, reached lately in the spheres of investments and import-export trade operations, assuring of the readiness of his country to facilitate the Syria's signing of a free trade agreement with the Customs Union.
