Latgalian children believe Lukashenka is president of Latvia

This statement was made by Juris Vilums from Dagda, a member of the Latvian Parliament and head of Latgales Saeima organisation.

The politician says some schoolchildren don't know that the president of Latvia is Andris Bērziņš. The reason is the dominating information space.

"They hear and see what their parents say at home. They watch television. For example, my mother, who lives in Latgalia, watches eight programmes from Belarus and only four from Latvia. It's logical that a child cannot say who is the president of Latvia," Juris Vilums said to Radio Baltkom.

Vilums added that even portraits of Bērziņš in schools are unable to solve the problem.
