Government Says Belarus will Not Change Stance in Oil Talks

"Euroradio"

Alexander Timoshenko, spokesman for Belarus prime minister, have refuted media reports that Belarus changed its position during negotiations over oil costs with Russia, reports the official news agency Belta.

Media reports suggested earlier that Belarus had allegedly changed its position and would not insists on the inter-budget distribution of export duties, if Russia increased a quota for Belarus' domestic consumption from the current 6 million tons up to 8-9 million tons.

Timoshenko stressed that such information could have been distributed only by someone who is very far away from the talks. The position of Belarus is outlined in the letter from Alexander Lukashenka to Dmitry Medvedev and has nothing in common with the one voiced by a certain source within the government, he said.
