Presidential candidate Mikalai Statkevich has faced attempts to make him apply to Lukashenka for a pardon.
Charter97.org has learnt this from his daughter Katsyaryna:
"My father called. He says they try to make him sign a pardon petition. He received the latest offer on Friday. When he answered he would not do it, he was denied meetings for the next six months.
Father also said everything may happen to him. He will not apply for a pardon un any case, because he thinks signing a petition would be betrayal of the people who took to streets on December 19."
According to the daughter of the political prisoner, his arm, injured at work in the colony, is better now. He has not fully recovered because he has to saw very thick logs.
