Almost 1000 observers accredited for December presidential vote

As many as 982 observers had been accredited with election commissions for Belarus’ December 19 presidential vote as of November 8, said the central election commission.

Six monitors were accredited with the central election commission, 415 with territorial commissions and 561 with precinct commissions.

Most of them, 700, were nominated by public associations, including 179 by the Belarusian Public Association of Veterans, 152 by the Belarusian National Youth Union and 142 by the Belaya Rus organization.

As many as 140 monitors were nominated through the collection of signatures and 80 by "workers’ collectives."

Sixty-two observers represented political parties. Forty-four of them were nominated by the pro-government Communist Party of Belarus, five by the Belarusian Social Democratic Hramada, four by the United Civic Party, three by the Belarusian Popular Front and the "Spravedlivy Mir" (Just World) Belarusian Party of the Left each.
