Lithuanian Foreign Minister Vygaudas Usackas arrived in Belarus in the latter half of Monday on a two-day private visit, said the press office of the Lithuanian ministry.
When visiting Vilnius in late July, Belarusian Foreign Minister Syarhey Martynaw invited his Lithuanian counterpart to travel to the neighboring country in August and go together with him on a sightseeing tour of sites and buildings of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania's historical heritage in Lida, Navahrudak, Nyasvizh and Mir.
Mr. Usackas’ visit is aimed at "developing cooperation between the neighboring countries, in particular between areas near the border, in the spheres of culture, tourism, business ties and contacts between local people," said the Lithuanian ministry’s press office.
During the visit, Mr. Usackas is scheduled to discuss with the Belarusian foreign minister and the country’s local government officials efforts to preserve sites and buildings of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania's historical heritage, according to the report. Talks with Mr. Martynaw will focus on bilateral political and economic cooperation, as well as prospects for Belarus’ dialogue with the European Union.
