Lukashenko: Belarus is committed to promoting friendly relations with Vietnam
Belarus is committed to promoting friendly relations with Vietnam, Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko said at a meeting with Vietnamese Minister of Public Security Luong Tam Quang on 9 September, BelTA has learned.

First of all, the president congratulated the minister on Vietnamese Independence Day, which is celebrated in the country on 2 September. "The Vietnamese people earned this holiday with their sweat and blood. They fought for it. Vietnam is a rapidly developing country not only in Asia, but also in the world. It is an accomplished country," Aleksandr Lukashenko emphasized.

"Vietnam and Belarus have established very warm, friendly relations. Our friendship with the Vietnamese people is based on those heroic pages of their struggle for independence after World War II. Our countrymen worked a lot in Vietnam. They helped during the war and they helped restore the national economy after the war. We still hold the same position," the president said.

In summer 2024, Vietnamese President To Lam was elected General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam. Aleksandr Lukashenko extended the warmest congratulations to the Vietnamese leader and an invitation to visit Belarus at any convenient time.

The head of state pointed out that as before Belarus is committed to promoting cooperation with Vietnam. "Everything depends on Vietnam. We will be as active in our relations as the Vietnamese leadership allows us," the president remarked.
