Belarus is extremely interested in cooperation with the African Union. Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko mentioned it as he met with President of the Union of the Comoros, Chairperson of the African Union Azali Assoumani on the sidelines of the 28th conference of the parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change in Dubai, BelTA has learned.

Aleksandr Lukashenko said: “I thank you for the meeting. Fate has decreed that we had to ‘attack' the summit together, one after the other. You know that we are extremely interested in cooperation with the African Union. I've sent you the relevant letter.”

The president remarked that Belarus has been cooperating with countries of North Africa for a long time, for instance, with Egypt. Relations with southern countries are developing, including with Zimbabwe. Interaction with Equatorial Guinea is being established.

“We would be very glad if you facilitated such an advance of highly technological Belarus into the African continent. If it doesn't contradict your policy, I'd like to request your support,” Aleksandr Lukashenko said.
