The conflict in Ukraine should be resolved on the basis of a balance of interests of three countries: Ukraine, Russia and Belarus, Belarusian Minister of Foreign Affairs Vladimir Makei told the media in Minsk on 6 May, BelTA has learned.
"Our principled position is that the negotiations should be conducted with the participation of the parties that are affected by the situation in our region. These are Russia, Ukraine and Belarus. If we talk about guarantees, then there should be clear security guarantees for Russia, Ukraine, and Belarus," Vladimir Makei said.
Belarus' position is known: the country is interested in a speedy resolution of the conflict. "A solution to this issue must be found. It should rely on the basis of the balance of interests, which is fundamentally important for Russia, Ukraine and Belarus," the minister stressed.
