Lukashenko: Ukraine's government pursues a policy of confrontation
Confrontation is at the bottom of the policy of the Ukrainian government, which poses an additional threat to Belarus, President Aleksandr Lukashenko said at a meeting to discuss the situation at the border on 5 August, BelTA has learned.

At the beginning of the meeting, Aleksandr Lukashenko noted that he had invited heads of almost all major defense, security and law enforcement agencies in order to discuss the situation unfolding at the western and partly southern border of Belarus, as well as around the country, and above all with regard to the policy of NATO.

“In this context, it is very important to hear your point of view on what our brotherly Ukraine is up to. These people are our kith and kin, but the government of Ukraine has opted for confrontation and is pursuing an anti-popular policy. We are not talking about where they are going - to the West, to the East, to the South - it doesn't matter. It's up to them to decide. But their policy rests on confrontation. And for us this is an additional threat that we did not have before,” the Belarusian leader said.
