Ex-presidential candidate Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya on Monday met with U.S. Deputy Secretary of State Stephen Biegun, reports Tsikhanouskaya's Telegram channel Pul Pervoy.
The meeting focused on the current political crisis in Belarus.
"The August 9 elections were neither free nor fair. Lukashenka has no support from Belarusian people and the international community. Every day, he refuses to accept the will of his people and thus deepens the crisis," Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya said.
During the meeting with Biegun, Tsikhanouskaya once again declared readiness to resolve the crisis through dialogue. In her view, dialogue should be mediated by international organizations.
"We also demand an impartial investigation of crimes committed by Belarusian authorities against their own people. Besides, we call on all countries to respect the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Belarus," Tsikhanouskaya stressed.
She thanked the United States for supporting peaceful demonstrators in Belarus.
The meeting took place in the Lithanian capital Vilnius where Tikhanouskaya fled after a brutal crackdown on the post-election protests in Belarus.
