The participants of the December 2019 peaceful rallies against integration with Russia on 27 January stood fresh trials in Minsk and the Belarusian regions.
Courts started to sentence the demonstrators to administrative arrests and fines already at the end of December. Since then, over 160 trials have been held. On Monday alone, the awarded fines totaled $2700.
According to the estimates by human rights defenders, the cumulative amount of fines now stands at nearly $60 000. 11 people were sentenced cumulatively to 315 days of administrative arrest.
Euroradio reported earlier that video blogger Zmicie Kazlou also known as Gray Cat was sentenced to a fresh sentence of 15 days in jail to make 120 (!) days of arrest cumulatively. He has served 26 days before being let out allegedly because of the disinfection procedures in the jail cells. On 27 January, Gray Cat was live on the Euroradio Guest show.
