At the meeting, which lasted nearly an hour, Sergei Lavrov tried to allay the fears of Belarusians and our western neighbors about the consequences of the future joint Russian-Belarusian military exercises. According to Lavrov, Moscow also “does not intend to attack NATO”.
Lavrov called the talk of possible occupation of Belarus “nonsense”.
The Minister also added that he has nothing against the rapprochement of Belarus with the European Union, because he does not consider it an attempt to isolate our country from Russia.
“The Union State is our most important asset, but we need to revisit the agreements,” said Lavrov.
However, the Minister did not elaborate on what kind of agreements need revisiting.
Sergey Lavrov gave a press conference for Belarusian journalists on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Belarus and Russia.
