The Russian World has nothing to do with politics and the authors of Regnum detained in Belarus were arousing hostility, Metropolitan of Minsk and Zaslauye Pavel told the TV channel Soyuz on January 1, 2017.
The Russian World means our ancestors, ‘ancient Russians from the Dnieper font. They had one belief, one church, one alphabet and one language…’, the metropolitan said.
He urged to unite instead of separating. Metropolitan Pavel criticized the people urging to create a national Orthodox church. This is a temptation and is a bad idea, he said. The metropolitan also mentioned the recent detention of Regnum authors for anti-Belarus articles.
Metropolitan Pavel: “Speaking about December events… three reporters were detained. But they were arousing hostility and hatred. Why?”
We need join constructive labour instead of separation, the metropolitan believes.
