Over the past year, there have been four official visits at the highest level between Belarus and Pakistan, president Alyaksandr Lukashenka states. But each of them could have had the goals which are not quite obvious to most Belarusians.
According to political analyst Ryhor Astapenya, the Belarusian leader can boast of a good plan to increase trade turnover between the two countries.
“The real Belarus-Pakistan ties are not what they would publicly speak about. For two years they have been discussing a big military contract – the modernization of tanks which Pakistan bought in Ukraine in the early 90s,” the expert believes.
Minsk and islamabad agreed to raise their bilateral trade to $1 billion within four years, Alyaksandr Lukashenka, who was on an official visit to this country, said Thursday at the fourth Belarus-Pakistan business and investment forum.
