The public is focused on the need of society to carefully preserve the best intellectual achievements, which have reached us through the centuries, and enrich the national treasury by the achievements of our talented contemporaries, the historical memory and pride for their homeland are a solid foundation for the further development of the country.
This year, Rahachou took the baton — the city associated with the fate of Uladzimir Karatkevich, Mihas Lynkou and Andrei Makayonak. The leitmotif of these writers’ work became the love towards their native land, respect for the hard-working and friendly people,” said in his greeting speech released by the press office the head of Belarus.
“I wish the participants and guests of the Belarusian Written Language Day inspiration, prosperity and success in eevrything,” said Lukashenka in conclusion.
Day of Belarusian Written Language and Publishing is a public holiday, which has been celebrated since 1994 on the first Sunday of September. Every year, the feast takes place in a new city. The idea to celebrate this holiday originated in the Belarus Ministry of Culture after the celebration of the 500th anniversary of the birth of Frantsysk Skaryna.
In 2006, the president of Belarus “placed” the Belarusian first printer in St. Petersburg.
Frantsysk Skaryna lived in the years 1490-1541, and the city of St. Petersburg was founded in 1703.
