Foreign Ministry promises fair, transparent elections in Belarus

The upcoming parliamentary election will be transparent and fair, Yauhen Shastakou, Belarus’ Deputy Foreign Minister said on Monday when meeting Kent Härstedt, the Special Co-ordinator of the Organzation for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) short-term observer mission and Vice-President of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly.

“The Belarusian side confirmed its’ adherence to conducting a transparent and fair election in line with national legislation and international commitments of the country, and assured of its readiness to create all necessary conditions for the full-fledged work of international observers,” the press service of Belarus’ Foreign Ministry.


Kent Härstedt is staying in Belarus on August, 14-17. He has already met with Belarusian opposition activists and visited the Central Election Commission.

The 2016 parliamentary election is to be held on September, 11.
