There should be no hysteria about international observes at elections, Central Election Commission chairperson Lidziya Yarmoshyna said on Belarus-1 on the evening of June 12.
"Let us avoid hysteria. We have demonized the intentional observation so much and we have put international observers on such a pedestal that we are afraid of them now. We should not be afraid of anything, we need to treat the people openly and kindly,” the official announced.
At the same time, she is not creating any illusions about the future OSCE/ODIHR election report, Yarmoshyna added.
The CEC chairperson mentioned the changes that will be made at the next parliamentary election. Observers will be able to see many numbers that are not mentioned in the law, Yarmoshyna said. For example, they will see the number of voters and the number of people who take part in the voting. “International and national observers will be able to observe the procedure of sending reports from district to regional election committees and the calculation of election results in constituencies,” Lidziya Yarmoshyna noted.
