In spite of the continuing deterioration, Mikalai Autukhovich, arrested entrepreneur from Vaukavysk, is not going to stop his hunger strike. "According to the latest information, Autukhovich had a medical examination in prison. Autukhovich has been put on a drip. He agreed on intravenous glucose drip to help his weakened body. In spite of this, Autukhovich is not going to stop his hunger strike," lawyer Aleh Vouchak told "Narodnaya Volya" newspaper.
It should be reminded that entrepreneurs from Vaukavysk Mikalai Autukhovich, Yury Lyavonau, and Uladzimir Asipienka were detained on February 8 this year and guarded to Minsk pre-trial detention center #1.they were accused of intentional destruction or damage to property of citizens.
Autukhovich went on hunger strike on April 16 as his case is not being investigated. He demands to send the case to court as soon as possible or to change a measure of restraint. He has been on hungers strike for the 42nd day. His condition is deteriorating every day, he has serious problems with liver.
On May 4, Belarusian public and political figures started hunger strike of solidarity with Mikalai Autukhovich. They are having a relay hunger strike now.
Investigation of the case and detention in custody are extended till June 3.
Human rights activists consider the arrested to be political prisoners drawing attention to the fact Mikalai Autukhovich and Yury Lyavonau were imprisoned before and recognized prisoners of conscience by the international community.
