Eric Rubin, the United States' deputy assistant secretary of state for European and Eurasian affairs, is expected to visit Belarus this week.
Mr. Rubin will reportedly meet with opposition leaders and civil society activists on February 27.
Mr. Rubin last visited Belarus in June 2014. He had meetings with Foreign Minister Uladzimir Makey, representatives of the foreign diplomat corps, civil society activists and relatives of the political prisoners. Opposition leaders were unable to meet with Mr. Rubin because they were attending a conference in Vilnius at the time.
